SECONDARY ENGLISH AND LITERACY

Ensuring the gains made in primary school translate into expected rates of progress in KS3 and KS4

Developing skills in reading comprehension and writing, ensuring continuity from KS2 to KS3, will strengthen learners’ ability to demonstrate their understanding of an increasingly challenging curriculum in KS4 and KS5.

English and Literacy Across the Curriculum are strengthened when teachers have the opportunities to collaboratively develop expertise, are challenged with new ideas and are supported through strong networks. English and literacy leads share high quality tried and tested innovations that have proven impact and Camden English departments are proud to be among the most effective nationally.

The benefits:
• Access to high-quality tailored support
• Practical interventions to secure good to outstanding teaching
• Innovative strategies and resources to inspire teachers and learners
• Involvement in research and development initiatives with colleagues and other schools that support good progress for all learners

Support for English is led by a Secondary Teaching and Learning Consultant within the Learning, School Improvement and Partnership Team. Development and collaborative support is provided through an English Network and Literacy Learning Hub in partnership with Parliament Hill School, expertise across the partnership schools and a Camden English Specialist Lead in Education (SLE).
