Safeguarding Guidance for Governors

On this page, governors can find links to guidance and support for safeguarding related issues.

Safeguarding Checklist:

The Designated Person (DP), head Teacher and Governing Body should use the checklist in order to establish whether the school policies and procedures effectively safeguard children and staff in the identified areas. Supporting evidence must be provided for each indicator. All identified actions should have an indicative timescale.

Camden Model Safeguarding and CP policy (June 2015):

Here you can download the latest version of the Camden Model Safeguarding and CP policy.

This policy sets out how the school/college will meet its statutory duty under section 175 of the Education Act 2002 to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and help them to achieve good outcomes. The school/college will achieve this by providing a safe learning environment and ensuring school staff have the skills and knowledge to take action where children are in need of help or protection.

Preventing FGM:

We have been working with two organisations, Forward UK and the British Somali Community, who can provide training and support to schools. The organisations have already run some training for school staff and governors in Camden and we are keen for more schools to be involved. Forward also offers workshops for primary and secondary pupils.

The information below describes the kind of support and training each organisation can offer schools. Please contact them directly.

FORWARD programme information
