Skills Pills - Update

15 Mar 2016

Due to a small number of bookings only for the event scheduled for this Friday 18th March is being deferred running until June. We are sorry for the short notice but the numbers booked do not justify running the event

Following feedback we will be emailing you notifications of these events, in addition to using the Camden Camden School Services website and the HR Newsletter.

We have arranged to rerun a couple of sessions which have proved very popular and have received very good feedback from those schools staff who have attended

On the 19th May we re-run Fraud Awareness Training, this is delivered by the Metropolitan Police (the venue to be confirmed but likely to Pancras Square). They are limited strictly to 20 spaces per session, allocated on a first come, first served basis. If your school has not had anyone as yet attend this course you strongly advised to ensure that someone takes advantage of this opportunity.

This event is specifically for individuals who are the main points of contact for DBS / new starter applications within their schools and centres. The sessions will provide specific guidance on how to detect fraudulent documents and raise awareness of suspicious activity. If you speak to anyone who have attended these in the past you will discover they were both highly informative, relevant but also enjoyable.

In April (date to be confirmed) we will re-run the Skills Pills session delivered at the end of February which covered Safeguarding; work privacy and use of school emails, delivered by one of Camden’s Senior Solicitor’s; Right to work compliance and detecting fraud in schools; jointly led by the Safe Staffing Team & Internal Audit and finally an e-hr refresher led by HR Systems.

This event was not well attended in February but got very favourable feedback from the course participants given how important all the topics are in the session we feel it is worth covering them again to ensure a wider audience get an opportunity to participate.

During June (date and venue to be confirmed) we will run a full day session Skills Pills session . The outline programme at this stage is:

  • DBS checks and compliance
  • Health and Safety – Update on revised schools health and safety policy and regulatory regim
  • Payroll - e- forms and future payroll developments
  • Absence Management - employment law and practical management

If you want to book a place on any of these events, please email hrschoolsevents@camden.gov.uk. Priority is always given to those schools who buy into our HR services.
