Specialist Leaders of Education - spring brochure 2016 launched - BOOK NOW

12 Jan 2016

We are delighted to introduce our third Camden School to School Specialist Leaders of Education brochure (see attached), showcasing our ever-growing group of fantastic practitioners. Hard copies of the brochure will be with you late this week so please share with staff.

We are once again offering ‘open classrooms’ followed by workshops linked to the lesson throughout this term across different Camden schools. These mornings are open to any classteachers, newly qualified to experienced, and we hope headteachers and secondary colleagues will take this opportunity too. Visits include time in classrooms and a small targeted workshop on a theme. Where appropriate, our SLEs describe a target audience.

This model builds on what we know works from our work to date as a Teaching School and in our Camden Learning (CL). All our feedback tells us that teachers love learning from other teachers, working together, building networks and seeing classrooms in action. Rather than simply watch a lesson and go, this model facilitates the all-important reflection and dialogue afterwards.

The Specialist Leaders of Education were appointed through a National College process. All are excellent teachers and excellent communicators. We are very confident that through their modelling, workshop leadership and perhaps follow-up work in schools, they can impact on practice and standards in all our schools. All our SLEs have experience of leading training and workshops in schools.

As part of our programme to strengthen school to school support, we hope to further build this network of Camden lead practitioners, able and willing to work across all schools, supporting the core work of our SIS consultants.

How does it work?
Having identified a date, please book via Sarah Ewins, our Teaching School Director, sarah.ewins@camdentsa.org.uk (or by phone on 020 7485 2155) and not directly with schools.
Savita’s session is soon – don’t miss out! Places are limited, so please book early. Each visit carries a ‘cost’ of just ½ a learning block which will be deducted centrally.

Can the SLEs work in schools?
All SLEs are also available to support school development priorities. A core role is to empower school middle leaders to develop and lead their own staff. There is limited availability as all are working in schools with class responsibilities. Please see specific details for each SLE and book dates in good time, again through Sarah as above.
