IMPORTANT: Fire Risk Assessment reminder from the Health and Safety Team

09 Nov 2015

Some schools show as being overdue having their fire risk assessments reviewed for 2015. This may not be an accurate reflection where the reviews have been completed, but just haven’t been communicated to the Camden Health & Safety Team. Schools and other duty holders have a statutory duty under The Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order 2005, to ensure that fire risk assessments are carried out and reviewed annually. Failure to maintain this could lead to prosecution.

In addition to the fire risk assessment being reviewed annually, any actions identified from the assessment must be addressed. This means that any recommendations highlighted in an assessment must be implemented, with priority given to high risk issues, and the fire risk assessment updated when actions are completed.

These issues must be raised with The Health & Safety team as identified. To ensure we can monitor compliance, we need each school to clarify when their fire risk assessment was last reviewed and when the next review has been scheduled.
Please as possible send a copy of the latest fire risk assessment review to James Leighton (Senior Health & Safety CSF) james.leighton@camden.gov.uk
