Rhyl achieves the Healthy Schools London Gold Award

22 Jun 2017

Many congratulations to Rhyl on achieving the Healthy Schools London Gold AwardThis is a fantastic achievement. Rhyl is only the third school in Camden to achieve this award-the highest award given by Healthy Schools London.

Rhyl received the Gold Award as a result of significantly decreasing pupils’ consumption of crisps and fizzy drinks and increasing the number of girls participating in extracurricular sport and health-related activities. These were outcomes the school had identified in their action plan for their silver award.

Their achievements are the result of a range of activities such as; establishing Mini Health Champions where pupils raised the profile of eating healthily at home by sharing weekly healthy recipes in the newsletter, rigorously checking packed lunches to ensure there were no sugary foods or drinks, promoting a whole school message of healthy eating through assemblies and displays, doubling the number of extra curricular sports clubs and involving staff to inspire girls to take part.
