The National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) is running a 10-week course for parents and carers of deaf children from Thursday 15 January 2015, 10.30am to 12.30pm at Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children, Jubilee Waterside Centre, 105 Camley Street, London N1C 4PF.

Topics covered include:

  • How children develop/ what are the differences for deaf children, if any?
  • Communicating with your deaf child
  • How to promote acceptable behaviour
  • How to read and support them with homework
  • Supporting their emotional wellbeing
  • Dealing with conflict
  • Supporting play and learning / doing fun activities with your child
  • Managing time
  • Impact of having a deaf child for parents and carers
  • Promoting independence.
