Health Champions

Health Champions is a programme for KS3 students which aim to give them the knowledge and skills to run a campaign on the importance of physical activity, smoking prevention or healthy eating. The Camden Health and Wellbeing Team train the Health Champions group, provide follow up sessions and on going support to the school. Contact mike.mortlock@camden.gov.uk

Mental Health First Aid Training for Schools

This FREE one day training for schools will help staff understand more about mental health, how to spot the signs of mental health-particularly depression, anxiety and eating disorders and how to support pupils.

The aim is for every school in Camden to have at least one member of staff trained in this nationally recognised training programme, by the end of July.

There are courses throughout the spring and Summer Terms-all courses are at the TDC and can be booked www.camdentds.co.uk

Secondary Nutrition Training

Secondary Cooking and Nutrition Training: HEALTHY EATING

Thursday 2nd March 2017, 4-6pm at the TDC

This course aims to develop understanding about the requirements of the Secondary Cooking and Nutrition curriculum for KS3. Topics will include major diet related health risks, nutrition through the life stages and specific dietary needs, macro- and micro- nutrients, calculating energy and nutritional values and recipe/meal planning. The course will help develop the confidence of staff to teach key practical cooking skills and be an opportunity to share ideas with other schools. Book at www.camdentds.co.uk

Families for Life for Primary Schools

Following the successful launch of the Families for Life programme this year, the Camden Health and Wellbeing Team will be running a full schedule of programmes for families with children 2- 11 years in schools, children's centres, nurseries and community settings across Camden and Islington in 2017.
