Healthy Lifestyle Programme for Families

Families for Life, are FREE programmes for families,

delivered by the Health and Wellbeing Team and run at a school.

There are 3 different programmes;

1. Families for Life - Early Years for families with children aged 2- 4

4 x 90 min sessions of healthy eating and active play. Each session includes fun activities and cooking and tasting of simple recipes based on a specific theme such as budgeting, time, limited space, fussy eating.


2. Families for Life – Primary for families with children aged 5 - 11 years.

4 x 90 min sessions of healthy eating and active games. Each session includes fun activities and cooking and tasting of simple recipes based on a specific theme such as budgeting, time, limited space, fussy eating.

3. Families for Life – Family Kitchen for families of children aged 2-11 years

6 x 90 min sessions supporting families to learn to cook and eat healthy meals together. Each session includes practical cooking skills and techniques.


To deliver Family Kitchen, staff from the setting need to attend a one day training session. A resource pack including guidance, lesson plans and recipes is available to support settings with this programme.
