Free Textile Recycling

Free Textile Recycling

Textile recycling can be an easy way to help you recycle those unwanted clothes and shoes and can be a good way to raise some money for the school or a local charity. Camden council do not provide textile recycling banks directly to schools but work in partnership with the following textile recycling companies who do:

LM Barry

LM Barry (LMB) is a family run textile recycling business since 1985. Nearly 100% of the textiles, clothing and shoes collected are recycled, with over 80% exported for reuse. The rest is made into wiping cloths or sent for flocking and felting. They have recently launched a new Shoes Friend’s and Clothes Collector scheme in primary schools across the South East.

Rewards
LMB currently pay around £400/tonne for textiles collected through their textile banks.* This money goes to support Camden charities. If you would like to set up textile recycling in your school, LM Barry can supply you with small internal collection bins free of charge and require a minimum of 5 bags of textiles in order to make a collection. Or why not organise a winter and summer textile recycling day. LMB will collect everything on the same day. Your school will be eligible to receive the money generated from your textile collections, which you can invest back into your school or donate to a local charity.

*Please note prices paid are based on the current market value which can fluctuate.
