Become a Governor

Become a Governor

School governors are people who make a positive contribution to children's education. They are one of the largest volunteer forces in the country and play a vital role in raising school standards and improving outcomes for young people. Governors have strategic oversight of the school, and the role of the governing board is absolutely key to the effectiveness of a school.

Camden schools need Governors from a wide variety of professional and personal backgrounds to ensure that Camden Governors continue to lead the way. Have you thought about becoming a Governor in Camden?

Being a Governor requires a commitment of around 10 meetings a year, which are usually but not always in the evening. It offers the opportunity to improve education and opportunities for children, while gaining or furthering your own experience at board level. It is a rewarding and challenging role.

If you would like to discuss the role of school governor, arrange a visit or have a conversation with an experienced governor, or would like to apply to become a school governor in Camden, please contact Owen Rees at owen.rees@camden.gov.uk or Rhian Swain at Rhian.Swain@camden.gov.uk.
